Imagine Africa was founded in 2004 and has grown to be one of the leading specialist operators of holidays to Africa and the Indian Ocean in the UK. A separate division offering holidays in Central and South America has also recently been launched. Led by a team of experienced consultants based at our offices in South London, we market a wide range of holidays including traditional safaris, beach honeymoons, horseback riding, balloon safaris, camel riding, diving and gorilla trekking. Many of our clients are newly-weds and we have developed a comprehensive range of honeymoon itineraries to suit all tastes and budgets as well as a dedicated Gift List service.

Acumen have been with us since the very start and look after all our accounting and taxation needs. They have been instrumental in developing systems to record and monitor our cashflows and profit margins. Sotera is an independent risk management consultancy formed in 2002 by 4 experienced executives who decided to pool their considerable talents and run their own company. We specialise in helping our clients to develop effective and efficient solutions to manage their risk, and work extensively in the railway sector and in the oil, gas and chemical industries across the UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia. Our services include hazard identification, safety audit, risk modelling and HSE management system reviews.

Acumen have been with us since we started and deal with all our tax and accounting. They provide us with quarterly management accounts and advise on the appropriate mix of salary, bonuses, dividends and pension contributions with a view to keeping our corporation tax bill as low as possible. Innovez Limited is a software development firm that provides packaged solutions to European based energy trading companies. We design and develop business critical energy trading systems such as FirstQuote and StatLink which cover a wide spectrum of front to back office and operational requirements, as well as producing the LNGLive reports for Lloyd's Register Fairplay. Our clients include Total Gas and Power, Nexen Energy, Sonatrach Gas Marketing, Vitol SA, Distrigas, Centrica Storage and Hess Energy Trading Company.

Our Accountants

Acumen have been our accountants since 2005 and do quarterly management accounts for us. They advised us on all VAT aspects when we bought our commercial property in Richmond and provided an in-depth analysis of the various tax issues related to our funding of this property.

Marinate Limited was a small marketing consultancy specialising in the drinks industry that we set up to launch various advertising campaigns across the Diageo group, promoting brands such as the Baileys range, Pampero rum, Smirnoff vodka and J&B whisky. We were responsible for co-ordinating and developing the marketing of these brands and for running workshops to develop marketing concepts within the Diageo group. We were also at the forefront of research and development into new concepts such as drinks tapas. Our other clients included Orange, Jobsite and ThisIsLondon.com. We have since gone into partnership with other marketing consultants to launch Independents United, a creative marketing and strategy agency that focuses on developing brands and turning bold ideas into business opportunities.

Our Accountants

Acumen catered for all our accounting needs and steered us through both the incorporation of our business and its eventual dissolution. They saved us a shedload of tax along the way by making sure we did things in the right way and in particular kept our capital gains tax bill to the absolute minimum. By overseeing the winding-up of our company and negotiating with the tax authorities on our behalf, they ensured that we were able to meet the timetable and qualify for taper relief before it was abolished.
